Privacy Policy

BrightMind (a product of Elite Way Holdings, South Africa) helps learners study with AI tools and human tutors. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

1. Information we collect

Account details: name, email address, role (parent, learner, tutor), grade level and subjects.

Learner activity: homework questions, quiz answers, test submissions, study plans and session bookings — needed to provide tutoring, marking and progress tracking.

Tutor applications: ID document, qualifications, proof of address/banking details and any verification documents you upload.

Payments: subscription and booking payments are processed by Yoco. We never see or store your card number — Yoco shares only the payment outcome, amount and reference.

Technical data: sign-in records and basic usage logs used for security, billing accuracy and abuse prevention.

2. Children's information

BrightMind is used by school learners, many under 18. A parent or guardian must create the account and consent on the child's behalf — learners never sign up alone. We collect only what is needed to deliver tutoring, never sell children's data, and never use it for advertising.

3. How we use information

To run your account, deliver AI tutoring and human lessons, process payments, send receipts and reminders, verify tutors, keep the platform secure, and meet legal duties (e.g. tax records for payouts).

4. Who we share it with

Supabase (secure database & authentication hosting) · Yoco (card payments) · AI providers (study questions are sent to our AI models for answering — avoid including ID numbers or addresses in prompts) · Tutors see only the booking details of their own students. We never sell personal information.

5. Your rights (POPIA)

You may request access to, correction, or deletion of your (or your child's) personal information, object to processing, or withdraw consent at any time by emailing brightmind@eliteway.co.za. We respond within a reasonable time. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

6. Retention & security

Account and learning records are kept while your account is active and deleted or anonymised on request, except where the law requires longer retention (e.g. payment records). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is role-limited, and tutor documents sit in private storage visible only to our review team.

7. Cookies

We use only strictly necessary cookies: sign-in sessions and security tokens. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
